I've employed the services of an independent editor, and boy, is she tough. I usually enjoy the process of being critiqued and edited. Even though I may not take the suggestions given, they open up my mind to other possibilities. (Right now I’m envisioning a picture of the top of my head exploding.) This is not always the case though. I once paid one thousand dollars to an editor who had so many negatives to say, I couldn't concentrate on her few positive suggestions.
